Our Philosophy

At Komainu Karate Club, we believe in fostering courage, honor, and respect through martial arts training. With over 50 years of combined coaching experience, our dedicated instructors aim to equip every student with essential self-defense skills, regardless of age or ability. We create an inclusive environment that values personal growth and community support.

First class free

Training at St. Michael's High School, Chorley.

  • Wednesday 18:00 - 19:00, 19:00 - 20:00

  • Saturday 10:00 - 11:00, 11:00 - 12:00

All you need is sporty clothing and a drink.

  • Single session (1 hour) £5.00, dual session (2 hours) £7.50.

  • No direct debit or advance payments necessary, pay as you train.

Instructors 

Sensei Tom Tuson (2nd Dan) has been training in karate for over 20 years, in that time he has accrued dan grades in both Shu-Ko-Kai and Shotokan styles. He has been running Komainu Karate since it first opened and has over 10 years of coaching experience.

 

Sensei Kevin Evans (5th Dan) started his karate journey in 1986, attaining his 1st dan in 1993. Kevin has over 30 years of senior coaching experience and has trained many students on their journey to black belt. Kevin has been part of the Komainu Karate club since its opening.

Sensei Ben Croasdale (1st Dan) achieved his 1st Dan in 2017 after starting his karate journey back in 2009. Ben has over 8 years of coaching experience and has been a part of Komainu Karate Club since the opening of the club with Sensei Tom and Sensei Kevin.
